Every Wednesday after school, Mrs. Wiley hosts the Art Guild until five in the afternoon. It all started seven years ago, when Principal Tuttle wanted her to paint a mural in front of the school. After that, other projects started coming along-another mural, a painting in the gym-when finally; Mrs. Wiley decided to start the art club. And so the Art Guild was born About 30 students are members, but only 20 attend to the meeting after school regularly. In this Guild, members are able to work on their art projects for school they don’t have enough time to finish, or any other project they wish that isn’t available in class. They can also do certain projects for the school, poster contests, and fundraisers. Coming up
will be a fundraiser for bricks that will go in the Another
enthusiastic perk to being in this particular club is you would have the chance
to enter art shows. Mrs. Wiley supports a few common shows including: the
Melbourne Art Show, the Strawbridge Art League, the State Fair, the A couple years back, one of her ceramic students entered the Henagar Art Show and won. The prizes include cash-ranging in different amounts according to place-ribbons, and different scholarships. “I consider all of my art students part of the Art Guild,” Mrs. Wiley stated. She strongly encourages anyone who would enjoy art as an after school activity. If anyone is interested in entering the Art Guild, or earning easy community service hours, talent or no talent, you can see Mrs. Wiley in room 614. As far as concerned, this club is highly entertaining, and a very good opportunity to win scholarships, also an opening to a good future in store for talented individuals. |
