Text Box: Drafting I focuses on learning the basics of drawing on the computer (CAD). Students will touch on learning how to read and draw simple mechanical and architectural drawings using current state of the art AutoCAD software. Students will also learn basic drafting skills including sketching, dimensioning, and creating multi-view, orthographic, and sectional drawings. Basic geometry skills are preferred as well as an understanding of the coordinate system.
Text Box: Drafting II focuses on mastering AutoCAD software and drawing intermediate mechanical and architectural drawings. Students will learn how to produce drawings and technical illustrations so their ideas are clearly represented. A prerequisite of Drafting I is required since the basic AutoCAD skills are only reviewed during the first 2 weeks of school. During the year students will begin preparation for taking the AutoCAD Associate Certification Exam in Drafting III.
Text Box: Drafting III focuses on mastering advanced drafting skills focusing on 2D designs and then progressing to drawing 3D models in AutoCAD. Previous Drafting I and II is required. All students are required to take the AutoCAD Associate Certification Exam. Students will also be introduced to 3D software programs during the 2nd Semester: Inventor (Autodesk products)
